I just recently purchased my 944 on January 2, the previous owner had the car for 2 years, a total of 3,000 miles put on it. This leading to over $6,000 in labor/repairs, and of course the approximate $6k he paid for it too. So far it seems like he did all the work for me, only problem so far was rebuilding the alternator and replacing radiator, due to bad installation by the first owner. Total = $400. : /

Interesting you totalled them up.

My wife asked me just the other day how much I've spent on the 951 over the past couple years. My reply, "Gee, I really don't know."

....and I was able to keep a straight face!

Let's see:

1) Cost of car- $4500

2) Parts/ labor-
$1400 for belts, wp, starter, rollers
$100 for slave/ master clutch cylinder
$1000 for clutch, including new fork
$??? for tools to do my clutch job-I started out with near nill so probably 300+

3) Insurance-
It's only been insured for one month since I purchased it, had to be on high honor roll first quarter as part of the deal with my parents. so maybe $20 (second car, under dad's name)

So that give me a grand total of $7000 for an '83 NA that still needs some TLC on the paint work . At least there's not much else that can break or go wrong at this point. PO put in a new window wiper motor, front shocks, all new weatherstripping on the whole car, fairly new seats, and a carpet dash cover .Oh well, I'm sure I'll be more than happy when I hit the first curves, hopefully early next week!
