I fixed my rear defroster yesterday.
The ground wire was running from the bottom of the passenger side hatch strut to the hot brown/white wire on the rear hatch interior light on the driver side. I had one of those "how did this ever work" moments. I re-routed the wire to the rear ground point and now things are much happier now.

My dash is out at a local place getting re-covered and I'm out to sort some things before it comes back. Today I will test the passenger side window and the mirror electrics. I want them to work smoother and faster. Multimeters are fun.

And oh yes, for $35 I got some central locking gear. This is gonna rock!

Side mirrors fixed by firmly seating a wire in to the switch plug.
Passenger window switches fixed by cleaning the contacts inside the switches.
Central locking gear tested on the bench but did not work correctly. I'll get some help from customer service tomorrow .

hey joey, can you tell me where exactly is the ground point for the rear defroster wire? do you have a pic? I have rewired from the passenger side strut to body and appears to go inside the body.
thanks!

Well, yesterday returning home, the engine started hesitating at maybe 300 rpm above idle going up the driveway (steep hill) in 1st. I turned the AC off and the hesitations stopped. So today I decided to poke around looking for a vacuum leak, and found a gap in the hose between the pressure damper/regulator join and the rest of the setup held loosely together by a larger rubber connector covered in frayed heat shielding. I'm not familiar with how it's supposed to look coming from the factory, but the hose was broken at a sharp angle and wasn't held at all securely in the rubber fitting. Needless to say, new hose is on its way...

Woke up with an attitude and I am a pretty chilled guy. Always drive my truck to work and decided to take the 944 and took the back roads route. Attitude, what attitude?

Finished clear coat on the weekend. Letting them cure for 5 days before I mount the tires.

As others have experienced, the clear coat made them a bit darker. I would have preferred a more matte aluminum look, but they came out pretty good.

Are those 951 16" phone dials? The dish looks really nice on them.
I'd love a set for my 931. I'm currently running staggered 15" phone dials on it but i think 16" phone dials would look even better.

This shot was taken at Silverstone at the biggest 924 event so far. Over 100 924s were there, from the very humble 2L NA to the most expensive GTS and GTR legends.
I took both my 924s to this event, we drove them 3000miles round trip to Silverstone and back.

3,000 miles is impressive especially where you live it probably was raining 2,999 of those miles. I don't think I put 1,000 miles on my 44 in the last three years, congrats on enjoying your car. I replaced the plastic cover, drip tray or whatever you want to call it in front of wipers / wiper motor cover.

Well i live in eastern Europe and travelled with my two 924s across Europe to get to UK. It rained for a couple of days but weather was actually just right for most of the trip.
Today i plan to replace the dizzy rotor on the 931 and re-plumb the vaccum hooses on the red GTS wannabe.

Here is a picture of both my 924s during the trip

Yeah, these are the 16" Turbo early offset dials from '86 - the front wheel is shown in above pics. They really have a pronounced dish compared to late version.

changed the o-ring on the check valve in the head.

celebrated another day without anything leaking)) i am almost motivated to install the belly pan that has been off for a while.

it is time for rear rotors and pads as the fronts are glazed in. I will probably drop the exhaust and index the cv cages. i plead ignorance.

Sarge,
In my 944 after the wire goes in to the body...
It runs toward the driver side in the wire harness behind the backrest of the backseat along the deck.
From there it hits the wire harness on the driver side and continues to the rear of the car.
At the rear of the car it turns toward the passenger side and travels 1 foot to the rear ground point.

This should get you there.

Joey

Started my NA after a few weeks of being out of town.... Huge fuel leak from the pressure line right over the head. Whatever, more stuff I can replace.
