Found the cause of all the smoke. Leaking oil from top end engine gaskets, then dripping down onto the exhaust, and burning off. Just got her out of the shop two weeks ago after having the DME repaired and now its going back in. Also gave her a interior detail, much better. This car is the sickness my bank account just can't seem to shake, haha.

changed my shift lever. pin was worn down near the end pretty good on the old one. Its much better than before, but still some slop...next weekend i may try that trick about boring out the hole and using those plastic slips. but shifting to 5th and rev is much much easier now.
Tomorrow, changing out the O2 sensor. Exciting to see what the results from that change out will be.

Three Wheelin'
hand buffed the whole thing with meguiars ultimate compound, then waxed with tech wax 2.0 (meguiars junky here...). Cleaned the tires and wheels really well and shined the crap out of them. yesterday doug and i fixed my drivers side door handle so i can now get in the car, that's a nice improvement!!
then i drove it! the car seems to like being driven a lot, it's running better and better the more i drive it!

I think about my 1989 944S2 in a lonely workshop waiting for a good cylinderhead from the UK. She has been out of action for well over 2 years - a small engine fire (power steering reservoir split and sprayed ATF over the headers during a track day. The fire (not large) trashed much of the soft stuff plastics/clutch master cylinder/bonnet (hood paintwork) & some electrics. Then I discovered the cylinderhead had a crack in the oil gallery feeding the cam tensioner. "While we were there" we replaced all that stuff at the front of the engine.
I am told that the cylinderhead is in the country in a container on the docks - I am encouraged! The bonnet has been resprayed with undercoat and should be finished about the same time the head gets fitted - this has been such a long wait. I am getting my Porsche jollies with a 1980 911SC - what a go-cart that is!
