Although the next phase is looming already, hehe. We got 205 hp at the wheels yesterday and a bit over 300Nm of torque. Not bad for a 20 year old engine which we haven't opened up yet. While dynoing the clutch started slipping, which seems strange, its a new spec stage 2 and spec flywheel so I guess it's a question of adjustment (hope so).

here's a short Video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfFWya_9pRQ
sounds like its coming along great! 205whp NA is a fabulous number!

yeah it seems good, but its only a dyno number, more important, it's up 15 hp versus the old injectors which were maxed out at the Motec, so that probably did the trick. the old injectors were cycling over 85% and now we're on a much shorter cycle, allowing (I think) for better timed fuel. The car was dynoed with 95 ron in it. My feelings is that the motec (and the programmer) really max the engine out. Scary part was when they ran it up to 7400 rpm !

Good to see the updates Henk. Wait until you get some forced induction going!! Those are some hefty spring rates. Have you tried them yet and did they suggest upgrading the front springs to suit? If so, what to?
As ever, the boys from D9 look busy and sounds like I'm going to have to add a few more items before 2010 is finished.

patrick, they run 120/240 for Nurburgring and 140/260 for hockenheim, they say that in combination with their rear axle, this are the rates to use. So..... I will go 110/220 and see how that works. Will let you know.

Wow, that's pretty weird. I've never heard of anything like that sort of imbalance?? By 'their rear axle' do you mean the torsion bar delete setup?
Very interested in how you find the car once the new springs are in Henk. Please let us know.
thanks

Yeah I'm really wondering too, but what the heck, the springs aint that expensive and if you think about effectiveness of spring rates 94% front and 48% rear it sounds pretty balanced. The reason why I'm trying it is simple, their rear axle (and other products) are fantastic, so they know what they're doing. They're racing these things on KW with these rates. The springs are not that expensice and easy to swap. Furthermore at initial shake down, a buddy of me, following me through fast long right hander said that my backside was bobbing visually. So all that combined made me think I'll give it a go.

Will surely let you know

wow, sorry guys, this reply been a long time coming. Yes, the brakes are fabulous now and its amazing how brake balance adjusting affects the handling and braking. been doing over a 100 laps of our newest circuit two weeks ago, and boy oh boy does she run fine. Took me a while to figure out the pressures for the Michelin pilot Sport Cups, coming from a 911 where I aim at 34/36 or the boxster with 35 all around I thought I use 35 all around for the 944 too but ended up with 36/31 f/r hot pressures.

Still waiting for finishing touches, new fuel rail, throttle positioning sensor to let the motec know what I'm up to, inner door panels. Meanwhile had a hood made from carbon and replaced the window. The hood is now painted so it doesn't look like a ricer, no worries. Quite some weight-savings there.

Next week taking my spare engine for overhaul and will then supercharge it with vortex kit, as an intermediate step before going all out turbo.

Henk, looking great!! Did you get the hood made up locally? The workmanship you have at your fingertips is fantastic and I'm jealous in a good way. I think you've progressed in a good way. Meaning that you've set the car up and just used the stock motor. Then progress to s/c which will be a whole lot better. Have you seen any footage of your surrogate sister car in Dubai? He's running an s/c now and it looks great in the clips and pics. Lots of D9 stuff on his car too, hence the sibling mention.

I'm still interested in how you progress with your suspension. So you're currently running 120/240?
Any sign of oversteer?

Tyres. Did you try the NT01s? I've got a set of 275/35 x 18s coming. Wish they made some between this and the next size up, 315's. I imagine that they might have an 'arrangement' with Toyo.
I suppose MPSCs can get to heat up in Thailand. Many people complain that they take too long to do so, especially on lighter cars. They are meant to be very good once up to temp though and stay there for a long time.

Also with the nose cone inlet and the side hood outlets, I'm wondering how efficient the flow through will be? Ideally I think a centrally located outlet a la the 968RS with some ducting might be the best but I'm thinking the side louvres should help a great deal. I have a similar one waiting in the wings. It's a bit Ricer at the moment, but the finish is so good I can't bear to paint it. lol. We'll see how it looks on a black car. Just might be able to get away with it.

Next, some video for us.

still waiting for the rear springs, they gave me the wrong ones last month, but they will be 220. On the MPSC's, it took me some time to get heat in em, especially the rear, but with the lower pressures that works well. havent put the nitto's yet, since i know the mpsc's quite well and want to stick with that till set up is satisfactory. Although, I'm gonna try a set of Michelin slicks 24 all around, but that will be when the rear springs are here. I'm with you on the airflow thing, think that the RS solution is very nice and the louvres are more for ventilation then flow. My water temps are good though, never over 81c.
Will keep you posted.
