Windshield wiper makes a single pass when headlights are turned on
OK, this is a new one on me, and it's driving me crazy. Whenever I turn on the headlights on our '89 944S2, the windshield wiper makes a single pass. I believe it's related to the headlight door motor more than to the headlights themselves. I've noted that if I remove relay G9 (Intermittent wiper control relay), the wipe does not occur with the activation of the headlights. However, the windshield wipers will not park themselves without this relay in place. Anyone have any ideas about this particular electrical gremlin?

I know it's been said 1000 times before, but check your grounds. Specifically, I'm GUESSING that the surge of power the headlights draw when they turn on, is triggering some relay, which then causes the wipers to turn on.

I had the exact same thing, along with the wipers making a pass by going over RR tracks. I cleaned up the grounds, changed a relay or two to no avail and finally pulled the wipers signals switch module out and drilled out the rivets and pulled it apart, promptly spilling a hole bunch of small parts and tiny springs onto the floor. After teaching the dog a bunch of new words, I gathered everything up and cleaned up the parts and lightly sanded the contact points and re-assembled using dielectric grease. To replace the rivets I used 2" 10/32 screws and nuts. Since that the problem went away. Now if I can only get the signals to self cancel again.

I know this an old thread, but I have the same problem. Late 944; I've cleaned all grounds and replaced the neg battery cable. In the post above, he mentions cleaning the wiper switch module...is that the wiper stalk itself? Its getting quite annoying flipping on the headlights and getting a single wipe smearing the windshield. Thanks!
