Default Hood Pins

I've got a pair of aerolatches. I was curious how/where to place the hood pins on your 944. I've seen vague pictures with the hood closed, however, I'm curious about the setup in the engine bay. I was thinking about placing the pins on the frame rail, but if there are better ideas/ways, I'm open to them. Pictures are a plus...

Thanks

some people take out the factory latch and put one hood pin there.

I fabbed two "L" brackets rotated to fit as an upside down "V" to the front valence with the hood pins at the apex of the "V".

Ive seen other people simply attached brackets to the mounting points of the fenders.

Ghost - do just a little wee bit of searching... In fact, you don't even have to do that. Just scroll down and look for threads started by me.

I'd be interrested also.
I've seen a couple of fabs but they didn't look all that great.
If someone has a good install w/ Pics that would be helpful...

Hey Van, I did check out your hood pin "mount" on the Headlight support. (via Fiberglass Hood topic) Creative! I liked that idea.

I was wondering what other options were out there (pictures help). I'm going to be removing the original hood latch, so that idea is a no go I did some searching, however, I didn't really find what I wanted. (topics directed specifically on hood pin mounting and fabricating), unless i'm blind. Then just link please

My post is about it for Aerocatch mounting...

I assume you're putting these on a fiberglass hood? The big problem with the Aerocatches is they take up a lot of real estate - so mounting them close to the corners isn't practical.

I've tucked mine into the box section at the front of the hood - but I wouldn't want to cut through that too much unless you were going to do real constructive surgery...

My hood pins (captive sliding pin style) are mounted up front on either end of the upper rad support. I also don't use the stock hood latch. These do end up in the front box section of the hood like Van mentions, bit of a PITA since you have to cut some of that away, more so with the Aerolatches.

I also have a fiberglass hood I can swap on, and have a second pair of pins at the back of the hood which will capture that (since it doesn't use hinges).

i drilled and tapped 1/2 " mounts into the side structural frames and locked this in with stopnuts. I then coupled two pieces of threaded rod so i could adjust the heigt of the pin to get the hood to fit down tightly.

pics are here
