If you were me: 951 or s2
So we are thinking of selling one of the 944's and I have been left with the decision of which one we want to keep: choices
86' 951 charcoal grey: drilled rotors, koni's on all four corners, k26/8 turbo, intake mod, chip, like new custom two toned interior with 968 door panels, momo steering wheel, like new paint, less than 15,000 miles on rebuilt engine, racing clutch basically everything on car has been replaced with new parts 90' s2 dark silver: drilled rotors, koni's on all for corners, 968 engine with approx. 78,000, like new paint, sport seats from a pre-85 car like new, magna flow exaust, many new parts Parts I have in hand ready to be installed on car I choose, front splitter, 968 wing/mirrors, racing dynamics strut bar, bazooka tube sub,18 in 2 piece porsche bbs rims, s2 lsd with about 70,000 miles At the moment the s2 is my dd but in a few months I'll be graduating and going to college and the 85' 944 will become the dd, and the car I choose will become the weekend toy, I'm just looking for opinions, anyone know what the dependability would be like on the turbo? Both cars run excellent with no leaks. |
Keep the blue one. Love that color!!
seriously...if it's just a weekend toy I'd keep the turbo...and unfortunately it will hold better value that the S2 (I hate even saying that!) |
I second the turbo. can't substitute turbo torque.
|
Keep the 951.
|
S2 less finicky.
|
If your weekends will be filled with a lot of open road/ highway driving, keep the turbo.
If you like twisty roads and city driving, keep the S2. |
I'm keeping both mine!
Otherwise, keep the 951, hands down. :BIG NOD: |
The S2 with the 968 engine for the win~!

turbo that sumbitch. |
save yourself the hassle of making a decision.
Decide what you want for each car, put both of them out there. Sell the first one you can sell, then keep the other. Or do like i do/did, sell one, put more money into the other, then sell the other and buy a different one or two... repeat. anyone want a 330 convertible? |
951....sooooooo good and I honestly don't notice much difference in bottom end power vs. 2.5 N/A (at least with my big turbo/MAF 951.. never drove a stock one)
|
S2 with a 3.0 968 engine is tough to beat. If you ever wanted to replace the turbo, it wouldn't be that hard to find one. To replace a 968 powered S2 would be pretty difficult.
|
Both are great cars, put them both for sale but not cheap. Think of the the tears you'll cry after 951 or the 'S3'.
968 powered S2 is interesting piece of engineering. Less weight than 968 but same power as stock 951S (that's 968 engine with chip). |
KEEP THE 951 !
(and sell the S2 to me ....) |
you have kids?
Sell a kid and keep both cars..... i mean keep the S2 |
