Post Thermostat snapring puller tool for cheap....maybe a group purchase opportunity

Looking for the tool that Performance sells for $30 plus shipping. Check out the web page below. It looks to be the thermostat snapring puller tool. I've got one in my posession and it looks like the real thing. Website says $17.95, hell I paid that much for snapring pliers at HomeDepot that didn't work.

Scroll all the way to the bottom.

Thanks for the lead but which tool are you referring to... P/N and description. I am sure a LOT of people would like to have one; otherwise you have to make your own tool to do this job.

Look all the way to the bottom of the link. The tool is part number 72500 and is called "Axle Retaining Ring Expander for GM FWD." It looks very much like, if not exactly, the picture that Performance uses.

Looks like to me that the ends need to be filed down a wee bit, but this may be the holy grail of the @#$%#$% snapring pullers.

Just one question, have you removed a thermostat snap ring from a 944 or a 951 with a $5 tool from Sears? Give me the P/N and description.

The tool is indeed Lisle's part no. 72500 Axle Retaining Ring Expander. It's cheap junk. The threaded rod bent and the pin on the end of the threaded rod flew off. I ended up using retaining ring pliers from Tru-Value. Don't waste your money on the Lisle tool.

Thanks for the information, good to know that I need to hang on to the modified needle nose pliers in my tool box.
