Default Help- S2 Engine Serial Number Location

Where do I find the engine serial number on a 91 S2? Have looked around the block from below and above and see nothing.

TIA

A quick look at mine (out of the car), and I only find what looks like a build date on the side and a four digit number by the oil pan on the passenger side. Maybe I can look further this weekend.

It's stamped vertically on the edge of the block where it mates to the bellhousing directly behind the OAS tube and just below the block series stamping. It is centered between the two allen cap screws that hold the sensor bracket onto the block. It's hard to see without a mirror, at least on a turbo it is. A shot of brake cleaner and a rag helps.

I turned the block over and it was much easier to see.

It doesn't match anything in the VIN. There is no indication of an engine replacement in the car's well documented history.

Looks like the 951 block ID is in a different spot. I stand corrected. I assumed the S2 would be the same.
