snap-on. You can order online or track down a truck and buy it from there. They are listed as triple squares.

Snap-on has a longer socket that works well with the CV joints because the rubber boots don't have to be moved so far.

Whatever you do make sure you clean out the heads of the cv bolts before you try removing them. They strip out very easily! Brake cleaner works very well.

I had went to my local BMW dealer and got in touch with their Snap-On guy. Hadda meet him behind in some parking lot. $22 for a socket is a helluva lot, but it was a good tool. Get new bolts to put back in.

The higher price for the higher quality "triple square" tool for the socket heads is money well spent. Before attempting to insert the tool, use some spray brake cleaner and thoroughly clean out the head of the bolts. Make sure the tool is inserted all the way into the bolt before turning. If all come out without damage, just clean them up before going back and be sure to torque them properly in an opposing pattern only after all are snuggged up.
Good luck
Mike

Just bought mine at Pep Boys of all places. I was safe and just gently tapped it with a hammer to get it in snug. I had to replace a very noisy cv axel last week.

when we were taking the parts car apart we had to search titusville for one. we were out all morning, and we found one at the LAST place we looked: the local ghetto-napa. labelled as a VW tool, it was only like $5 and worked fine.

Yeah that was a lovely waste of about 2 hours searching every auto parts and hardware store in the city wasn't it Mike?
