OK now my turn......

My boss evan moen owner of moriss dampers
worked for gm for a while and worked on spark plugs and o2 sensors. The bottom line is nippon denso o2 sensors are FAR better than any bosch and
as for spark plug we would never put a set in our cars after finding out what he did.......

Just because its german does not make it good.....
after all look at sourkraut!

He told me that the multi-electrode plugs weren't recommended to put in these cars (well, at least the S2... I don't know about the Turbo or 8-valve models). He also stated that the ones in there were the wrong heat range. He installed the "correct" ones... Bosch WR5DC.

According to the Porsche PET the correct Bosch plugs are WR7DTC not WR5DTC. But NGK uses an opposite scale, maybe 5 is right there i don't know.

I think Danno's made the best point in this...The difference between spark plugs is negligible. Go with something that works and works well. Bosch makes good spark plugs, use the right one for the car. NGK makes good spark plugs, use the right one for the car. The rest is marketting.

Look at your old plugs, they'll tell you if you need to change.

I wonder where Zucker came from? Think Bosch PR types are scanning the forums?

I like the NGK iridium plugs - BPR6EIX, which supersedes their platinum plug for our application.

The WR7 is for the Turbo, whereas the WR5 is for the S2. I just double-checked my owner's manual, which lists the specs for both cars, and that's what it has listed.

For the turbo guys, Bosch used to have a note up on their German website which specifically stated not to use the 4 tip plug in the turbo. It isn't there anymore, but if you go through the plug selector application you will see that the multi tip plugs are not on the list for turbos.

The original story I was told was that due to the additional mass they retain more heat and cause detonation problems.

I had recently installed these +4's in my 924S and boy the thing sure ran like crap until warm. It took me a while to figure out what my problem was because I broke the rules and replaced many things at 1 time! After reading this thread it got me thinking that my prob may be plugs. I went out today at lunch and picked up regular Bosch copper plugs and installed them...my baby is back and running better than ever.

Thanks to all!

Jason
