RUF 951
About 8 months ago at the local dealer I spotted a pearl white on burgandy leather RUF 951! I have never heard of any of these bieng built. This thing was soooooo sweet, it had the million way adjustable recaro's, old shool RUF deep dish wheels and obviously the RUF only badge on the back. I remember asking one of the mechanics about it and he said it was genuine. The owner I guess was female and had the car since new, and get this.............I had just bought my 951, and she was wiling to let it go for 10k!!!!!!! I was so upset......all this talk about RUF wheels just made me think of this. Any have any info on these cars????? -Turby

Well I have always been under the impression that RUF has been exclusively working on the 911 sereis of cars (well except for the 3400S based on the boxster but it has a 3.4 L 911 motor).
I did a little research on RUF and all evidence points to just working on 911's until 1997. Here is the list that I came up with, if anyone has more info please add it this is only MHO.
1979:
RUF modifies his first 930
1981:
RUF becomes and Auto manufacture
1983:
BTR 375 hp (3.4L single group B turbo)
1987:
CTR 469 hp (3.4L single groub C turbo)
1990:
BR 360 hp (3.3L)
RCT 375 hp (3.6L dual plug)
BTR 415 hp (3.8L single plug)
CTR 469 hp
1997:
BTR 420 hp
CTR2 520 hp
CTR2 Sport 520 hp
993 Turbo R 490 hp
2000:
RGT 385 hp
3400S 310 hp
2001:
996 Turbo R 520 hp
Now there are C2, C4, wide body and narrow body version of a lot of these cars, but I thought including that would be over kill. And because a pitcture is worth 1000 words:

I agree,,if RUF had produced a 951( 955 or 957 or 958??????) I think it would be just as much in demand or sought after as a Rothman series car. But I bet it would have been fun,,say 350 - 380 rwhp, maybe with a properly geared 6 speed. But I do love those older wheels they made. AS a matter of fact if anyone knows where a set is that will fit an 87 951 I would like to know,,and cost. But I guess it is possible that someone took a car to Vancover and had them massage it?

Luke, well I had a picture of the 993 and 996 Turbo R's but if you want more pics here you go, and I'll include the RGT this time.
Ok, this one isn't a RUF, but I say it is beautiful, nothing like a dauer 962, can you believe it is street legal????

Coo'. Just don't get it confused with my 968 now that I've got Ruf Speedlines.

My design 90s have RUF centercaps!!!! They scared the ricers away on more than a few occasions "all your 944 are belong to me! hey, wait a sec...." MUHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! As far as Vancouver and RUF goes, I'm good buddies with the crew at Weissach ( www.weissach.com ). They are the only (as far as I know) RUF dealers around. They sell RUF products, perform RUF conversions, and even sell original RUF cars. Sweeeeet. I'm gonna try and get the old skool deep dish RUF rims off their race car. Its an 87 911, so the offset should be the same, right??? We'll see. I highly recommend them (not affiliated in any way).

I have a ruf 951. The driver's seat has a small tear. The molding over the driver door has paint worn through in a few spots. There's a small ding where the jack dimpled the rear panel beside the license plate. I've replaced a few hose clamps with marine units, my dash has heat cracks and and my carpet is really dirty. I could even post pictures to prove it. It's certainly not a 10/10ths car. Wouldn't you consider those items to constitue a rough 951?
OOOps. Damn, I hate those homonyms... wrong kinda ruf, nevermind.
