968 rollbar ? who makes a bolt in?
 

I'm wondering who makes 968 rollbars?

and if anyone makes one for a cabrolet...

find redline man who posts on this forum. John Hajny is his name. send him a PM. he is the gent that makes the bolt in bar for the coupes.

autopower also makes them for the 944 cab. They are the the traditional bolt to the floor type.

I am not sure Redlineman's fit in the cab. I believe he needs the B or C piller as a mounting point. One picture should make it clear.

There is a guy on 968forums who is getting ready to run a small batch of cab "roll bars"

I just bought an Autopower bar for the 944 cab, the paper work says it is also for 968...makes sense. I got a great deal on it from OG racing but I know it was there last one in stock and they wanted to mve it is it has sat for a while. there is not a large maket for the cab roll bar so it may need to be ordered and take a little time.

Did some recent research on this. The Autopower bar requires you to take out your rear panels as it bolts to the rear wheel tubs. Didn't want to go that route. The bar shown above by Smokieman is custom built for the cab and doesn't block access to the rear cubbies. Look over on "968 Forums".

I'd want to buy from a company with a long history of making these, I wouldn't want to be the guinea pig of someone's design that doesn't work as it should if you go oily side up.

If you are only searching for looks, than go with what you think looks best. If you are going to track or autocross you may want to look at the regulations were you are running. Not all bars are excepted all over. Also, not all bars provide the same amount of safety and stifness as each other. The Autopower bar has a harness guide and a removable cross bar, of course it probably weighs more too. JMO

The maker of this bar call it a "chassis brace" not a roll bar. The bar was designed to allow you to qualify for DE events and also provide much needed stiffness to the Cab's body. It mounts at 3 points on each side....Rocker Panel, Seat belt bolt, Rear Rocker (as shown) instead of the traditional 2. You could easily add a bolt in cross bar for more integrity and also a belt harness. I like it becouse it does not require you to chop up the rear of your car and keeps the cubbies functional. You can keep it in the car all the time and not lose functionality or of the rear of the car.You gotta have something in the car for DE events and this qualifies in my PCA Region. It has to be at least as dependable as the 2 little bars in the Boxter. I guess if I was going to do DE and drive on the edge where a rollover might be possible........I might rethink and go with something like the Autopower bar and sacrifice all of the above. But thats not how I drive.............so this will work for me. To each his own.
