Default Anyone have a DXF model they're willing to share?

If anyone has a dxf/dwg model of a 944 or 951 they're willing to share, could you please send it to me at rleonardmccaffery@cogeco.ca?

Thanks,
Ross.

Nice to see someone else uses Catia too. I would love a dfx file of the Porsche crest if there is one floating around. Been wanting to water-jet one out for a while.

I'm learning. I use DMU at work, and am trying to teach myself Catia in hopes of future promotions. I even got myself a 3DConnexion space navigator, which is really a cool little gadget.

if anyone has an .iges or a ProE rendering of the car, I'd be interested as well. I think it'd be cool to play around a little with it in virtual reality (and maybe even design some custom parts for actual reality!)

Ross, I found a PDF to DFX converter that may work for you on www.cnet.com. I have never used it, but depending one what you want it may work.

EDIT: Here is a site with other Porsche cars in 3D models, you have to purchase them, and there is no 944. But they look sweet!

I hate it when I spend hours on a model and someone takes it and butchers it.

I've got the Porsche crest in .ai. I may have it in .dxf, if not it's a simple conversion.

FYI as long as your .pdf file is vector format, you do not need a 'converter' if you have a real CAD system. Change the .pdf extension to one of the following: .ps, .eps, or .ai. This will trick your CAD package into opening it. Again, it's CRITICAL that the PDF is vector. Otherwise you'll get nothing.

I may have a .DXF of 3 views. I was working on a 3D model, but my short attention span got the best of me. Below are two concept models and a stock model. I can get that to you.

What are you guys using to take measurments? I'm use to pulling dimensions with calipers, protractors, etc... when modeling an existing part but an entire car is a little large for that.
I wish I had access to a CMM or large 3D laser scanner.

You guys are making less sense to me than when I try to read an auto-x thread. Way less, in fact.

No measurements required unless you're going to build a 1:1 scale model.

PDF conversion won't work, as I need a 3d model.

UPDATE - I've found a 968 model from Need for Speed, extracted the wireframe, and have converted it to DXF. Once I have a change to import it into AutoCAD, I'll let everyone know how it looks. It's a relatively low-vertices wireframe, however I can probably re-work the model into looking more like a 944.
