Heater will not stop!

Heater will not stop!
I have a 1986 Porsche 944 NA. The car is rough around the edges. My biggest issue is I cannot stop the heat. I pulled the fuse for the heater and the inside of the car gets hot. Just dry hot air. I pulled the heat/ac control unit right out. Still slowly gets to a boil in my car.
I have gone as far as duct taping the foot ducts shut because my feet were sweating.. Is there a flap or a shut off somewhere in the car that blocks the heat from the heater core from entering the car when I have the heat OFF?
Thanks guys

See if this helps.
Also, have you had a look under the car? There's a block of insulation that normally goes under the shifter. It crumbles and wears out over time, and if it's mostly gone you'll get hot air from the engine (not the same as exhaust) blowing straight into the cabin. Drove me nuts until I replaced it.

Start at the firewall just under the a/c lines. You'll see the two large coolant hoses for you heater core and the small vacum line between 'em. Follow those back to the heater control valve you are looking for. Just above the clutch.

what about this?
Why is no one mentioning the little clip that breaks? The clip keeps the adjustment rod connected to the flap that controls the flow of heat into the cabin. When it breaks you get heat full blast, even with the A/C on.
Use the search function...there is an improved part now that doesn't break as easily.
EDIT - Nevermind - just followed the link - awesome info!!

My heater clip broke, here's how I fixed it:
Heres the two piece clip you'll be replacing:
Mines a RHD drive car, so I had to remove the glove box:
The broken clip:
New plastic clip on:
Steel clip on, and all done:

Wow. Thank you! Where does one get this clip? Stealership?
I have never received a full DIY pic tutorial in a thread before. Thanks again man! Tomorrow this project will commence.

I have never actually seen this clip break but I have had two heater valves start leaking hot air into the heater core. Is it really that common? I use the Audi 5000 metal heater valve as a replacement but the OEM plastic valve is pretty cheap.

FYI, I was talking to my porsche mech and he told me somthing that makes sense. Porsche designed the heater and ac system so that if the system goes down for it to default to the heat on option. Since Porsche is in Germany and they get cold they figured it would be better to stay warm then to worry about cold. Makes sense and it is easier to get hot air into the cab then to get cold air in. The clip is the way to fix the hot air issue and to close the vents as well.

Of course the vacuum line on my Z28 that is under the battery went on a 90 deg day. The 90 deg day I asked a fellow rennlister to take the car home with him so i could get my then new to me S2 home (that was three 944s ago, and, for the record i regret selling that car to my brother)
