why wouldn't it has bumpers and I assume working lights. As far as I know you arent required to have doors, just working lights, bumpers, and a seat with a seat belt.

I can't image that thing would pass any DOT inspection....

Looks like you can have some fun with it at an AX though. But I wouldn't put it on a track...

DOT inspection? What is that?
This is GA :P
If you have brake lights, tail lights, a muffler, headlights, and a windsheild (with wipers) or a helmet, oh, and an emergency brake, then its legal.

I would completely DD that thing - but I'd probably want to wear a helmet LOL.

That car even with the cage is going to be a wet noodle.

You lost all the torsional rigidy in taking the roof off and the "T top" cage top does not add any back in. The frame will twist with ease and it will suck.

If you plan on pulling that much metal you need to use the cage add stiffness back in. The cage as designed does not put much if in stiffness back in.

I come from the land of Restriction, Regulation, and Taxation. Our "can't" list is much longer than our "can" list, and apparently more strict than GA's.

An "X" shape in the "roof" of the cage, and a diagonal cross member in the rear section will help immensely I would think.

looks good...some quality welds there. You should probably put some padding on the upper bars though to prevent head injury

as for the question of rigidity maybe some more tubes like this would help. it sort of mimics the original car frame with a few extra braces like some people have recommended.

cars feels fine. all of the shake and twisting that i can feel is gone.
I know what you mean by it not looking like it would stop torsional stresses.
but maybe thats just one of those works in practice not on paper things. cause the car feels fine. and any flex that is present probably wont affect much. the reason it doesnt have those bars is because I would hardly be able to get in if it did.

a simulation test shows that off the line my car beats a new trans-am by two simulated car lengths.
