Modern Tail Lights
Is anyone aware of aftermarket euro, clear, or any type of upgrade for the tail lights on a 944......Thanks, Ray
|
You could black them out very easily.
|
I've seen them all black (aribop's car post #9), all red, and I've seen the 968 back end put on 944s.
|
mine are blacked out, but im getting kind of tired of the look. I think I want to maybe try more of a 'smoked' look.
here's my tail lights (currently) http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...r/100_1042.jpg dumb friends like to copy my theme here... http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...r/100_1038.jpg and.... saw this and thought it was interesting, and different. basically he just masked off his tail lights wierd when he resprayed his car. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...r/100_1197.jpg again in the corner of the last picture you can see my car with the blackouts look like from a distance. |
Your friend needs a torsion bar adjustment.
|
You could make the amber light red, so the tail light is all red/white, like Techno Duck, Keith, and others.
|
I think that blueish car could use a few more wheel weights on the outside of the rim. :icon501:
I prefer and run with the Volvo Amber painted Red scheme myself. |
what red paint matches? or do you do the whole thing the same red?
|
I think someone on this forum has 944 lights that are similar to this:
http://di1.shopping.com/images/di/41...00x100-0-0.jpg I think that blinker is white instead of yellow, I wonder where did he got them.. I'm searching the net for them and no luck so far.. btw: painted lights on the blue car are the uglyest ****job I've ever seen on 944. not to mention the horizontal placement of wiper. |
Anyone have a photo of smoked out lights? Would tinted film work/is it legal?
I was looking at this site to smoke out the tail lights on my other car: http://www.aerotect.net/aerotect_016.htm I did the Testor's candy apple red that was described in a bunch of other posts. Looks better than the stock orange. |

you're thinking of Damien (leadFoot944)
and good luck finding him. here are mine that he made for me long ago http://www.rennstuff.com/fig/944_pics/DSC_0007.JPG |
You can swap in a whole back bumper / tailight assembly of a 968. Can get quite pricey.
If ya want to go with the retro look, just get the aftermarket panel that sits between the taillights, as found on the white car. ( ) At least it is a period correct taillight mod. Oh, and the blueish car's "updated" lights are teh ghey. No sir, I don't like them. -Z-man. |

-Z-man. Nice Ren N Stimpy slip-in there. LOL. |
Klearz.com has the Rear Amber Section Piece of the Taillight in Clear.
Testors Brand Paint has a Translucent Candy Apple Red which is used to Change your Amber to Red. Smoked/Blacked out Taillights are illegal, however the enforcement of this law differs from region to region. Your lights need to shine bright enough to be easily visible. They are also Reflectors for help visibility in dark, hazardous conditions, covering Lights up limits or destroys this element. Niteshades seems to be the popular taillight tint spray for the import crowd. |

Personally I think the blue car's lights are ugly as well, but I just posted it for the sake of showing something different.

I like our cars lighst with just the yellow turn signal lens swapped with a clear one! I think that looks modern and dosen not take away from this car! Also you can change the yellow turn signals in the front to clear just look on ebay as there is a bunch of them or ebay.co.uk!
|
the blue cars light shape concept is a cool idea but the obvious shape of the original lens ruins it. maybe a custom piece that would take up the place of both taillights and the space between, making it all one level except for a recess for the license plate and those lights would work.

This is my set-up.

ok,
opinions please. I used the car pictured above. My car is blue but i used the red car instead. Which do you like best? |
My vote is for the smoked top row in pic #2
|
+1 for #2..nice lookin`..a frend of mine told me that he could do some LED taillights for me....i will kep u posted if it does..
|
#3 with the single white and the rest red. This is the only one that looks like it came from the factory yet still updates the appearance of the back end.
|
#4...also looks factory but with more discrete smoking
|
Hey Ballistic, do you live near La Jolla? I think I've seen your car before around there.
|
#2 looks sick.
|
yeah..where'd those come from ballistic?
|
yeah, #2 is deffinatley the ****, of course, Ballistic's lights are also sweet

I have clear replacement segments for the amber turn signal sections available:

It's cool to see this thread - I'm doing the clear replacement for the amber section & having them lightly smoked. Here are a couple of photochops I did to help me make up my mind - think it definitely cleans up the look.
|
now this is sweet looking...you won't be "relocating" the light/function either.
|
I personally think tinting the turn signals red is the best look..

Is that a reflection in the back window? Or do you have like 100 of those yellow tree shaped air fresheners in the car?
