Like I said. If you don't speed, it will work. However, a couple of "faster" spurts and the stock bra starts to flap and ends up marring the paint. I blew a hole in mine...

Not enough to withstand the pressure at higher speeds. I gave up using mine after it marred my paint. Several waxings later it's recovered, but it really pi$$ed me off when it happened.

I would pass on using a bra on the car if you drive fast. Very effective at lower speeds, though.

Well....i will only put it on when i do 200+ mile round trip, and its hard to go 65 when the speed limit on some roads are 70, i dont want it to scratch the paint, and i dont want to get the clear plastic bra. What other choices do i have to prevent rock chips and a ton of bugs?

I have a method to prevent flapping all the way to 130+ mph. "Track tested" of course

Antonio Sorry about not getting pics last evening. I will do it tonight. I will also post pics of my secret trydown method... No duct tape needed.

I'll chime in here... they are problematic at best. They have a history of destroying nice paint jobs. Had an '83 Rx7 in high school that I had a bra on and it did all of what people complain about. Only way I can see using one is as suggested but with a new glossy black paint job (insert one of those lovely pics of your newly painted black turbo) I couldn't image it not putting micro-scratches in your paint from it moving around (albeit very small - but it DOES move) while you are driving highway speeds. Now the question to you is, are microscratches better than taking the chance of getting rock chips??? That's the question you must decide!

Either way - we love your car!

Well heres what im thinking. If i buy a pack of microfiber towels, ask the wife really really nice to sow them on the side that mates with the paint, that should work shouldnt it?

With respect to bra flapping around. This is an issue for the 951 and solved it years ago. I got my 944 Turbo back in 1997 and did alot of fun runs to many places. Back then bras were the only game in town to prevent rock chips.

I got one and used it. It is made by colgan, but carries the Porsche crest. So it could be called the "factory" one, but any colgan is really the same crest or no.

Anyway there were two clear issues.

1) headlight covers coming off at high speed with lights up.
I don't have a solution to that other than with the lights down it was not an issue. Even so they would only come off, but never damage the paint as they sort of "ballon" behind the pop up light.

2) Flapping just above the intake for the inter cooler.
Here is is quite easy for air to get in under the bra an cause flapping. I developed a very simply easy solution that has stayed stable up to an indicated 137 mph. I would also use the bra on track and autocross days and there it really help keep the nose clean from damage. The downside was less cooling air to the radiator.

Anway here is a picture of what I did. My bra came with two hooks in the front, but I could never find a place to latch them so I put in a couple wires in the intercooler inlet for these elsstic hooks to attach to and keep the nose tight.

When putting the bra on you are sort of blind and can't see the wires too well, but you can feel for them. Once hooked on like this the leading edge of the bra tucks into the intercooler inlet enough to prevent air from getting under it.
Flapping problem solved.

Here is a picture taken in 1999 or so with the bra installed. It is enlarged from an older pciture so forgive the quality, but you can see how tucked the bra is over the intercooler inlet.

Antonio, I still have the one that came on my car. If you want to try one of these out, you can have mine for free.
