I know Dan said he's done (And Dan, thanks so much for the couple times in the past you've fronted the cash, organized it, or whatever. it's phenominal that you've done that. hats off to you!)
So, is anyone going to put it together this year? it's a tradition that I don't think should be cancelled.
I'd organize it here in Denver, but there are a couple reasons why I can't/shouldn't.
1) I don't think we'd get the same turnout
2) our race track is mid-construction right now
3) It should remain in Ohio for traditions sake.
I'm willing to put forth the effort to help organize however I can, but guys, we can arrange it. I need a road trip this summer!

Haha, I was wondering who was going to start this thread...
If it were to happen again I agree with Danny, we need a sponsor or two and some serious upfront paying. Dan P doing it on his own dime year after year has got to be stressful and very expensive.
I really want to run at Nelsons again, great track.

I'll tell ya, depending on who's up for it in a couple years, I'll be willing to see about getting it set up in Denver (it's really not that bad of a drive from Ohio) at our track that's being built...

Denvers out of the quesiton. Id think only like 10 people will come if its there.
We can have it in Ohio again this year! If Dans up to it, there is always a way. We can all help to make it possible this year.

That's a cool lookin' track.
Hypothetically, if it WERE in Colorado, I'd be more likely to go. On that note, and since Dan doesn't want to do it every year, why don't we have 944fest east and 944fest west, in alternating years? Kinda like the Olympics...

Thanks guys, as you all have heard before, I am done. New job, new priorities, etc. No talking me in to it again.
There was some brief discussion between Rennbay and the 944cup people to do a joint weekend at Mid-Ohio, but I have no idea where the plans are now. From what I understand, it would not be on track at Mid Ohio for festers, but maybe an autocross sort of thing. There are a few willing sponsors that made it possible for me to pull it off, such as Lindsey, and as far as I know they'll be willing to pitch in with the new management.
There were plenty of times I had serious liability and safety fears. I think any sane person would. I feel extremely relieved to be exiting gracefully without ever having to contact a lawyer about something. (except confirming their track reservations )
For those who want it to be an all porsche event, I always felt there were plenty of those all year long. From the PCA's Parade to Porsches 2 Oxford, there is no shortage of awesome gatherings. The 944fest was a little more specific, a celebration of the front engine variants and the quirky variants that drive them.
Anyway, If anyone has a serious idea for hosting the event, contact me or Travis at Rennbay. Travis has first dibs, but if he passes and a suitable replacement comes forward, I would be glad to show someone all the tools they need to make it happen.

Girlfriend thinks I'm saving up for something special this summer. We've been together two and a half years, and I think it's about that time now... I told her the surprise was round, and awesome, and she could show it off to a bunch of people -- that's right! NEW TIRES! My Yokohamas are almost corded! I need some Toyo RA-1s, and at the fest she can show everyone my new track tires! What else could she be thinking of?
Sooper dooper Al Gore cereally though, I'm willing to pitch in for the fest experience, and I know my old man's good for it, too! We can even start off small -- someone buy a... vintage 944Fest t-shirt!
Is Nelson's def. out for sponsors?? AutoX is fine and dandy, but you gotta love the feeling of the track!
