Id be worried about the N/A transmission with 285hp as well as its clutch. I like the simplicity of the log manifold and all the ducting. Its no-nonsense. That car could have definetly pulled 285. Did they not mention water injection? Perhaps Callaway used a little methanol during the dyno??? I would jump on that car for the sake of rarity, and to keep some punk from getting hold of it and beating her to crap.

944-LT1 runs the stock box with his 350HP smallblock without issue and he launches the sucker if need be.

The gearing in the N/A trans is all wrong for a turbo. I wonder though if the shorter gears mights account for some of the additional HP getting to the wheels.

Haven't had my car dyno'd but it's FAST, blows the doors off of a stock 951. The last one of these I saw went on ebay for around $10k so I would say that the price is very reasonable especially considering the condition od the car. Everything in the setup is stock Porsche with the exception of the exhaust manifold, turbo, IC and piping, fuel injectors, and the controller for the 5th injector. The engine management is done through the stock ECU and the only mod there that I've heard of is a re tensioned AFM spring.

the NA gearing with stock size tires will get you to 35 in first gear and 60ish in second. with this much power it will get you there quicker

Kind of skeptical about the ad because the seller did not provide any credentials for the car, such as engine pictures, or Callaway silk screened VDO boost guage or the emblems that went on the car *see attachment* or any other documentation for photo evidence.

The original Callaway 944's that Reeves did have the 937 Carrrera GT hood scoop, look at the one in Car & Driver as well.

I have a 951 trans in my Callaway and it pulls hard even with this gearing. Callaway did not fool around with H20/meth injection, but I did!
The cost of the in house conversion back in 1983 was $7850.00 The beauty of these cars is the low spool time and useable power range. Who else can have 10lbs+ of boost in under 3 seconds while still in first gear?

Reeves did specifiy using 100+ octane fuel for 15spi of boost though and there was a knock detection/alteration meter equipped with these conversions. I run 15psi with mine with 93 octane, but I also run a TEC2 EMS.

Charlie I think that hood scoop was only on the GTL equiped cars. The other 2 Callaways I've seen did not have a scoop and in most of the articles I've read they say that the turbo setup was an engine enhancement package only and the car still looked stock. Where are your emblems located? I don't remember seeing any on my car.

Azn Drgn, aah you might be right. I recall seeing some literature on the GTL but I cannot recall whether or not the hood scoop was a part of the package. I know the 81' 924GTP LeMans car was the inspiration though. The emblems were located on the area of metal above the gas cap door and in the same area on the drivers side. About 3" down from the roof.

i didnt, but i saw a labor receipt when i bought the car saying there were some 36 pounders on there.

i dont know if they are or not, but they work perfectly fine. lol

thats not good, you should be running very rich. the STOCK computer program is not programmed to run properly on anything bigger than stock.
