WTB: Still Need (1) More 944 Space Saver Spare
I am still looking for one (1) more 944 space saver spare wheel, prefer P/N 951.362.131.00 (silver anodized) but will consider later version P/N 951.362.131.01 (red anodized). These are marked with P/N and 5.5 X 15 ET30 and have 16 round holes around the perimeter. See picture below.
I have found four, but need a "spare-spare" so to speak for my 356 "outlaw" project.
Please respond to me at my direct e-mail fordlandia@sbcglobal.net.
Thanks,
Bill Waite

I've got it... in fact I think we talked at one time on pelican about this. I've got several different ones but I know I do have one like that. Still has the spare on it too. Absolutely no use for it. $10 plus actual shipping?

Oh. My red spare weighs more than than my 16x8" phonies with big 245 stickies. At least it feels like it does. I think it is made of steel?
oh well looks like everyone is happy.

Pic of my project wouldn't look like much now... I am in the "disassembly" phase. I retired in January, and finally have time to work on our neglected '65 356C Coupe (we've owned it since 1975, but it has been in storage since 1982. There was a guy in Chicago who had the wheels I am buying on his 356 and they looked really nice. Don't have a picture of that car, however. The 15" wheels I'm using are not the "hot" ones for the 356's: the ones most guys are after are the 16" space saver spares that are also aluminum but only have 10 holes around the outside. Here's a picture of an outlaw with those wheels on it (the 16" with 10 holes):

I'm restoring my car as what I call a "reversible outlaw." Will restore all the original parts, etc, but plan on running in "outlaw" form: e.g. no bumpers, non-stock wheels, etc. That drives the 356 "purists" nuts (which sounds like fun to me)!
The 15" wheels, at 11 pounds, are much lighter than the original 356 steel wheels that weigh in at 19 pounds. They are also wider (5.5 vs. 4.5) and the offset & bolt pattern is perfect for the 1965 356C (the only 356 that came originally with disc brakes... the earlier 356's have to be converted to discs in order to use the 944 wheels, as the original drum brake 356's have wheels with the "wide" 5 bolt pattern like VW's had).
