Default Zermatt vs Polar silver...?

I plan to have my car repainted when I get it back from it's latest operation. It's a factory zermatt silver. I really like it & don't want to deviate much, if at all. But, I've seen a few 993's & 968's online, in polar silver, & am now considering that. I've never seen it in-person, though. Actually, my CC's been cracking since I've owned my car, so I really haven't even seen a great example of zermatt. Anyway, polar is still silver, so it's not a major change, but it appears to be brighter & more of a true silver. Zermatt has a touch of gold flake in it & I like that too- partly b/c it appears to change colors slightly, depending on light & angle, etc.

Anyway, any input would be appreciated as I really need to make a decision soon. Thanks a lot...

IMHO they are both great colors and I think polar silver would look great on a 944. I would think a color change would negatively effect the value of the car, but maybe not to the right person. I would really try to see a real live good example of both before making a decision. Pictures are great, but like you said, the colors do change depending on the light and its hard to appreciate them w/o walking around a car and seeing it from different angles. If I had to choose, I would go with Zermatt. Maybe you should turn this thread into a poll?

I really like Zermatt. In direct sunlight its clearly silver, but around dusk and dawn or in low light situations in general it has almost a champagne, beige hue to it. Its a very 'classy' color.

I would tell you to pick the color you want to see on a daily basis. As for hurting the value of these cars, well take a look in th prices these are going for, unless you get a bad paint job I really doubt you will bring the value of your car down.

I would vote for keeping it Zermatt. My S2 is Crystal Silver, more of a gray base, and I like it alot. Call me crazy but if I could have any color on my car, I would opt for Silver Rose.

I'll second the choice of keeping the Zermatt Silver. You see Polar Silver on many P-cars, but the Zermatt is quite the rare hue. Keep the faith, Robby!

I vote for Zermatt also. Its a fantastic color that you don't see too much of. Plus if you change colors and don't pay the extra $$ to have everything done, then the jams and engine bay will always be off.

Are you sure you're talking about Polar Silver and not Artic Silver? Polar silver has a very light blue tint, and I don't think is more of a "true" silver than Zermatt. Artic Silver is probably brighter than Zermatt, which tends to become kind of dark under low light conditions (see TD's pics above, for example).

Example of AS, sorry couldn't find a 944 in that color:

Techno, that second picture of the 924S is amazing. I love that rainbow in the back! And there are like 10 different shades, between silver and gold, reflecting off the car.

Zermatt Silver is my favorite color on a 944 or 951. Classy is a good word to describe it. Polar Silver is too cold for me - Zermatt has warmth to it. Plus, Polar Silver looks like every other silver out there available on any Honda Accord or VW Jetta.

Here's Polar Silver, note bluish tint.

Exact same car, different lighting, more silver showing now.

DVC - thanks for the pic, this thread made me wonder how it would look when "freshly painted" as your car looks. Especially since the OP says his car IS zermatt silver but with messed up clearcoat.
