Default 944na Heater Delete Question

My heater core has been leaking for some time even though it is never used here in FL. What is the best way to 'delete' the heater. I see two options:

1. Join the two pipes together in the engine bay.
Pipe one from the water pump over the exhaust manifold connected to pipe two from the head via the rabbit ears switch.

or

2. Blank the openings at source
Rubber cap over the water pump feed and remove the rabbit ears switch pipe and fit a blanking plate.

I have deleted the vapor emissions system so the rabbit ears switch is not used anymore. Anyone have any advise, I would prefer option two to keep it clean, but just need to know if this might affect coolant flow/hotspots elsewhere. Thanks.

Both systems have bee used my 944 spec racers 95% of which don't run heaters.

I used block off plates at both ends. A little harde up front, but then one less hose to fail and be in the way.
