Default 24mm vs 27mm Tensioner roller? Why do some cars have one and some cars have the other

So Arash, Chris and I were tensioning the belts on my 944 when we noticed that instead of having a 27mm tensioning roller, my car had a 24mm. Why? I have no idea, because the roller seems too small. Did they make different sized belts for the 944's? One size for cars with a 27mm roller and another size for cars with a 24mm one? Basically our problem was that the roller was too small to get the belt up to the right tension, how this was overlooked when the belts were tensioned in the past is beyond me unless the belt somehow stretched or something.

So why do some cars have 24mm and some have 27? I know Arnnworx mentions something about different sizes on their website but nothing really detailed.

We're switching it out to a 27mm roller tomorrow, I was just curious if this was something that was OEM or if someone before me switched it out by accident.

I finally know something !!! Its from the updated water pump, bigger pulley so you need a smaller roller to make up the difference.

Hmm, thats really interesting. I'd wonder why they'd go with the smaller roller, it doesn't seem to do the job very well.
