Default Clutch goes to the floor very easy.

well my 944 hates me for buying a Boxster. I drove my 944 around the neighborhood last night because I have not driven it in a week. It worked great and I left it parked outside last night. when I got in the car to move it back in the garage tonight the clutch went to the floor very easy. it was like there was no effort at all to depress the clutch. it has never acted like this and the clutch is seven years old with 30k miles on it. I am not hard on the clutch so I am not sure why it would behave like this. the engagement point seems like it is way at the end of the clutch pedal travel. I swear if the clutch went out I am going to part this car out.

Is it low on brake fluid? Master or Slave cylinder went out? With only 30k on it the clutch should still be good.

Clutch master and slave cylinder, not really a big deal and can easily be repaired by yourself in 4 hours time. Mine went out a few months ago but I didn't have the time. It set me back about $800. But if you do it yourself it will be $140 for parts. Look at the pedal, is there any fluid behind it?

maybe my fluid went out. I parked over the grass so I would not have seen a spot on the ground. I replaced the master cylinder and brake booster just over 2 years ago. I will check that this weekend.

I know you can adjust the stiffnis of the pedal but I doubt that it can adjust by itself. After replacing my clutch it was so light it was difficult to drive the car, and sometimes it even stuck at the floor. I took it back and after adjustment it was perfect.

Reminds me of my 924S. She hates me for buying a 911. Very shortly after the 911 was bought, I blew the clutch in the 924S... a $2000 fix.
The day after the 911 was bought, I tore the power steering belt off the pullys at Autocross...
Now I have an air leak in a tire...

so I sat in the car last night and the pedal felt fine.?? I will try it again tonight. maybe I am just crazy and the clutch is just that much lighter than the 986's clutch? Fluid levels are normal and I can see no leaking.

Air in the system from: Bad master cylinder, bad slave cylinder, bad connection hose, loose bleeder...

It would be a good time to bleed the system to see if it clears the problem, during this time you'll get an opportunity to check the components for leaks, hose splits, etc.

If you didn't replace the slave cylinder as well, chances are it's the culprit this time. You should always replace the clutch hydraulic cylinders in pairs.

Yes, this is what my car did with a bad master and slave cylinder. It did it once, I popped it back out and then a week later it did it again and when I would pop it back out it would get stuck in every time I'd touch it. Kind of a PITA because I was only a few blocks from home and at a stop sign.

Maybe you should try turning your Boxster on...they have VERY hard clutches until the hydraulic assist comes on.

Just wait til you try shifting a 997TT..those things have the dual clutches and without the engine on it felt like I was trying to move an oil tanker. (they don't even start unless you hold the clutch down too X_X)

My fluid level is just the same as it has been. not up or down. maybe I will change the fluid and check for leaks. good idea. Slave Cyl. cannot be that expensive right?
