Combination Switch Replacement
 

I am trying to take the combination switch off of my car. Last week I discovered that the bundle of wires inside the switch were smoking which is causing my headlights to malfunction. I was wondering if any of you have tried this before. Here is where I am so far:

I am having trouble finding what is holding this in.

You have to remove the black trim pieces on either side of the column. Underneath that, there is a collar with a bolt holding the switch on. Look behind the switch from the bottom; you should be able to see the bolt that tightens the collar. You might be able to get to it if you loosen the black trim peices.

I can't help (mine is an early dash, but I am working on the same issue. I feel your pain brother.

I am sure the wiring is different on your car, but check your fog light relays to trace the path of the burned wires. My problem started at the early combo switch (worn insulation, smoking, etc.). The specific problem was the hot wire that went to the wiper switch for "brights flashing". I used the electrical schematics on Pelican http://www.pelicanparts.com/944/elec...l_diagrams.htm (sorry) to trace everything. I am sure they have schematics for your model. I just resolved the problem yesterday :jumper: . Good luck.
