Default Engine & Transmission serial #s - where?

Since PCA wants to know my engine and transmission serial numbers, I thought I'd save an hour of climbing around the car - where do I find each of these? I believe the tranny # is on top of the bellhousing - any way to get to it?
Thanks in advance for the help,

Alan

Why does PCA want your SN's? For the Club Racing tech forms? If so, dont worry about it, leave it blank.

Yep, trans SN is on top of the bell, which I dont think is easily read w/o removing it from the car. Possibly with a small mirror. But typically the location is dirty enough and combine with some alum. oxidation, its pretty tough to read w/o cleaning it off.

What year car do you have. The block numbers can be in a couple locations, late cars have a tab sticking out from the top of the block deck right behind the #4 cylinder on the exhaust side. Early blocks will have the number on the driver side near the speed ref. sensor mount, by the clutch bell housing.

Thanks Jim. Sorry, I forgot to mention that it's an '83, series 1. And yes, this is for the Club Racing Tech form.
Thanks again.
