Well as luck would have it, just as I get all the pieces back together on the 944 my left knee gives out. So it looks like a 968 with Tip is in my future! So before I become a total cripple I will have to sell my beloved 944. So here’s the deal: for $3500 you get:
1987 944 Stone Grey on Linen (actually Porsche “Light Grey”)
176,000 miles. 103,000 by me in the past 6 years doing the 120/day commute. So 90% highway miles. All synthetic fluids (Mobil 1, Syntec, Redline) with religious oil changes every 5000 miles with OEM oil filters. Complete record of every part replaced and maintenance done in the past 6 years. EVERYTHING on the car works correctly. Tool kit, air pump, and original owners manual still in the car.
Options:
404 Stabilizer Bars (25.4mm Hollow Front, 18 mm Rear)
418 Protective side moldings
431 Leather steering wheel (replaced by Momo Race)
650 Sunroof
946 Partial Leather
Plus I’ve added:
Koni Yellows all around
Phone dials professionally refinished
Hella H4 Headlights
968 style Zender Antennae
Ice Shark aux ground cable
Ice Shark Tail light upgrade
Paragon Throttle Cam
Rennbay Stainless Fuel Hoses
Blaupunkt MP3000, Clarion component rear speakers, Blaupunkt 4x6 Fronts
968 Pollen Filter Upgrade
Momo “Race” Steering Wheel
Lloyds Floor Mats and Hatch Mat in “Light Grey”
Porsche 944 Roof Rack
Done in the last 6000 miles:
New windshield
New Sachs spring clutch, pressure plate, bearings, guide, throw out, rear main seal, resurfaced flywheel, all new bolts
New Belts and seals
All new exhaust hangers
New axles/CV’s
A/C High pressure hose and Dryer replaced, converted to R134
What’s wrong?
Dash cracks are starting (but for a “lister” I’ll throw in a spare dash)
Stone chips on the front and mirrors
Notice the oil pressure at idle....and the odometer reading!!

I think anything from 2.5 to 4 at idle is fine. It just amazes me I'm still seeing 4 bar at 176K miles...and that's with 5W40 Syntec (my winter oil) still!

It's a Momo "Race" steering wheel...I really like it...took months to find the Porsche crest horn button!! They're getting tough to get.
Pretty funny, I stopped at the dry cleaners yesterday after picking my youngest daughter up from school (right after cleaning the car). While I was in the cleaners she said people were stopping to look at it.

>Is your off road gear Centaur? I used to rock a yellow Bianchi Grizzley w/ full Campy Centaur - heavy a$$ gear that. Bought it from a Marzocchi rep. in like '90? I still want to replace my long gone '84 Ciocc SLX w/ full super record some day just to hang on the wall. The only campy I currently own is an '05 record seatpost<
Your car is beautiful, Steve. Is it stone grey on linen? It looks just like my '87, . . . only together.

Yes indeed, Stone Grey on linen, but actually in '87 that interior was called "Light Grey"! I have an '87 Brochure and the color palette to go with it!
I just parted out an mid 70's Campy Record bike I used for touring long ago. I wasn't using it anymore...and I knew people could use the parts. I have never seen anything like it on eBay...it was a feeding frenzy for those parts!! I still have to put the frame up...very cool British hand made frame with chrome lugs...an R.E.W. Reynolds (not to be confused with Reynold tubing, which it uses)...it'll be interesting to see if the vintage bike folks go after it or not.
