Default What're you driving and what's your favourite thing about it?

I've got an '87 844 automatic, and while it's early days yet (only had it for a week or two), I have to say that without doubt my favourite thing about this car is the sound.

When I bought it, I had certain things in mind. First of all I was checking it and checking it to make sure it was in good shape. Secondly was the look of the car, and of course the Porsche branding.

But I had no idea -- no idea -- that the thunder of the engine would thrill me as much as it does. I friggin' love starting it up, love idling it, love the almost-too-low-to-hear bass as I'm just tooling along a city street.

I especially love that merely starting the engine and slowly making my way to the exit of my underground parking garage sets off car alarms!

Sigh ... I'm in love!

Anyhow, what about you guys?

924S --> Lightweight, solid, reliable, fun. sound that'll embarrass Zeus himself (aftermarket exhaust) that handles well, and has incredible DD manners

951S -->fast as hell (when it's not blowing up expensive parts...like a turbo or a clutch within 5 days of each other ...) and still turns heads, even though she's 19. The comfort of the seats, the fact that even after a hard boosting session, I can place my hand on the intercooler pipe that goes from the cooler to the throttle body, and it's stone cold, while my friend's 951 won't do that. I love that it's still a fast car, and most people are taken by surprise with how fast she is. I love the brake response, I love the steering input, and how well it'll corner. it's a great car all around...

It all depends on what car I am in when we are driving but usually wet roads and 80's music get me in a good mood! I am a huge fan of snow storms with 4" or more snow on the road in my 924S. Its just to much fun to be going sideways down a strait road doing 55mph. Then the fun of town driving in the snow! Its so much fun to just act like a rally driver because there is no one on the road to hit and sliding around is just to much fun. God, I love my rally car but it needs more power so thats a coming project.

Today I drove my Mercedes-Benz 300TD. The things I like about it:

1. I can say I drive a Mercedes-Benz.
2. It is so calming and comfortable to drive.
3. It's TURB

My S is hard to drive on the street- it only gets feeling right when I lay on it.
Taking those exit loops 'at speed' to feel the G's is pretty good.

What year 300? I was supposed to get a 77 300D for my first car but the auto tranny crapped out and my parents donated it while I was away at summer camp. Think it was somewhere around 300k mi and the engine had already been rebuilt twice when the tranny finally went...

Stupid parents...

944 NA - Balance & poise, plus the sound.

944 Turbo S - Comfort and 10x more performance than I need on the street.

The thing that I really love is knowing that if had the need (and place) I could run circles around 99% of other cars on the road in my 20 year old "vintage" cars. This is combo of car's performance and my track experinece shows me I am using may be 10% of what I can get out of the car just about any time on street.

Audi A6 Avant - Mine has suspension tuning and a bunch of other crap. The thing is a TANK. It is very comfortable, can haul a ton of crap, is reliable, and absolutely brilliant in the snow. Bar none the safest vehicle I have ever ridden in. Black on black, debadged, dropped. I've gotten many compliments on her looks, and she's 8 years and 97K miles old. Currently my daily driver, however that status will change later this week... stay tuned.

A year deep into fixing this car and I've never driven it before. But the curvy good looks, the sound of 'satans 4-banger', the racing heritage behind the name, the comfort and functionality of the interior and the look on people's faces when I tell them it's 20yrs old is enough to keep me motivated

Most of you will probably laugh on my daily driver.

Chrysler T & C. is my daily driver. Very comfortable, automatic, Fully adjustable captains chairs etc. Gives you a great vivibility of traffic.

1x a week Lexus. Just to give it an excercise
1x a week 951S. When I have the urge for power I drvie the 951. Mostly on Fridays.
