Default Custom Race Dash project w/pics

Well, I have been wanting to do this race dash project for awhile now. I finally received the fiberglass top portion today. Basically, the idea is to take a non-airbag dash, strip it down to bare metal (getting rid of all the vinyl and foam) and put on new fiberglass pieces. Here's a few pics to illustrate what I am trying to do:

The first pic shows the dash stripped of the vinyl, and the foam exposed (Anyone have any suggestions on getting this **** off?). Above it, is the Broadoot Racing Fiberglass Dash. The fitment is SUPERB! I was 100% shocked it fit as well as it did.

Pic #2 shows the fitment.

The reason I am doing this is for custom mounting of gauges, switches, etc. Not really for weight savings which their will be just a little of.

This will probably go into the 944S (depending on sale)... or the turbo track car I am thinking of building.

If there is a ton of foam (which it looks like there is) why not take the whole unit to a place to get acid dipped or something to get it all shiney clean?

How about a drill with a wire wheel. It does a great job removing rust.

That is going to look awesome in your car. How much wiring is needed to hook that cluster up?

I drilled a whole in my drain plug, tapped it, and inserted the sensor.

I'm doing a similar fiberglass dash with a DataLogger in a track only S2. Why do I need oil temp? I've installed water temp and oil pressure. What range should oil temp be within?
