Default 944 na Engine rebuild completed, lots of pics (HUGE pics)

I didn't get the camera until after the bottom end was assembled, everything else however was documented.

Is that camera new? Just asking cause the pics look pretty grainy and the colors are washed out.

Nice progress though.

Haha the camera is a cheap CVS disposible. I spent all my money on my rebuild, can't afford no fancy digital.

Oh it's started alright. She's got 40 or so miles on it now. Just in time for the track season.

Great work!

If ya ever have to tear into it again I would suggest using some high temp engine paint. I used it when I did a head job on my 944 and I think it shows the work you put into it..

I'm so glad I just bought a widescreen LCD monitor today. Finally I can view large images without scrolling sideways!

Lookin' good! How long did it take you to rebuild the engine?

Thanks guys. In total, tear down, assembly, and installation it probably took about 4-5 months and included a custom oil cooler (pics will be up of that later) which in itself took almost a month. I'm a full time student so it's rare to get a full days work in.

Did you clean and prep the parts first? I started trying to clean the cam tower, but after 30 min of brake clean and purple power I just gave up, it was going absolutely no where.

A parts cleaning machine would work better. Or perhaps a sandblaster.

Honestly, no prep. Used some alcohol to remove grease and that was it... OK the intake manifold was soda blasted..
