Easy job turns into a comedy of errors...
 

So I go to change a front caliper with one I rebuilt. Easy..jack the car, remove the wheel, remove the old caliper. No problemo.
Put the new caliper on...easy. Put the pads back in ... sure enough...
Then pull out my trusty motive power bleeder. hook it up. and start pumping.
Just after 10lbs....there is a geyser of brake fluid going everywhere! Dammit....release the pressure, wipe off the car and engine...the hose broke just above the cap. No worries..I have a spare hose clamp. So I cut the hose. And go to battle with the original clamp (one of the ones that are crimped on) and replace the hose with a new hose clamp. Good to go...So back onto the car again. Pump it up. Just after 10lbs.....ANOTHER GEYSER!! ****!!. Now the hose sprung a leak right in the middle, and doused the car, again, with brake fluid. Release the pressure. Clean the car. No more hose clamps. And I really need to bleed the brakes. My daughter makes the mistake of wandering into the garage. I say, get in the car, and when I tell you push the middle pedal to the floor and hold it until I say so. Luckily, she follows directions well (She's 10) ... so we bled the brakes old school style.
Now I got to get another clamp to repair the bleeder. I had some hose, but not a clamp. Nothing is easy. Merry Christmas... :banghead:

Sorry Pete, you did not accumulate enough points to mount a serious challenge to wrest the Cooper Cup from my trophy shelf !! If your daughter had pushed the clutch pedal instead and the car accidentally rolled over you I would have been forced into the driveway once again to retain the Cup. It takes a blood sacrifice at minimum to mount any serious challenge though.

It's too late now, but in the future if you ever get brake fluid on the car, never wipe it! Use water to thoroughly wash it off. Brake fluid is real nasty stuff and will eat your paint quickly.

Well it sounds like just about every one of my 'easy jobs'!! Some day I'll tell you guys about doing the headgasket on my kids Mercedes 190...

I have bled brakes by myself for over 40 years. Just find a long bar ( a long 3/8 extension works)
and use it hold the brake pedal down. Put the bar between the pedal and the seat, adjust the seat
as necessary.

Brakes are done. And I am one hose clam away from fixing the bleeder.
