Weight of carpet and sound deadening?
Ive been searching but I cant find an actual number. Does anyone know what all the carpet and sound deadening from a late interior weighs?

I did not weight it exactly, but I'm going to guess around 15-20 lbs. The rear hatch carpet alone is probably 25% of that with its' integrated padding. This is out of my 87 NA.
The last half pound was the hardest though... stupid tar paper on the tunnel.

I put everything that I have taken out of my car on the scales, I wish I kept track of it as you did.
I would just mark the part and throw in in a pile.

I actually just finished redying my carpet and in the process took out all the sound material. Total weight in a cardboard box of rear hatch sound mat (heavy), side panel mats, driver and passenger sound mats (also heavy) and all the other pieces I could get off relating to sound muffling totaled 52lbs. Again, just the sound material, not carpet or other stuff. hope this helps you

The sound deadning is pretty heavy.
The carpet is not however. The sound deadening was removed in my old yellow car, so I just bought a carpet set and put it down.
The carpet cant weigh much more than like ~10lbs. Removing the carpet for that small of a weight reduction isnt a good idea if you drive your car for street/DD use IMHO.
The 924SE with like manual windows, 1 mirror, and stuff still had carpet. Supposivly those cars were made for track use, and they still had carpet. Really funky carpet at that.

If you look on the passenger side you can see the ugliness that the interior was blessed with. The factory claimed 2618 for the car, I wonder how much it weighs now!

I know that alot of you Race on the track.
I'm really looking for a "nice" looking car with a sweet sound system and enough performance. Minimal Road and Engine Noise.
(replace old worn carpet and aged noise dampening)
I'd like to strip the carpet and the old sound deadening.
(a Little weight gained back but killing lots of noise)
I'd like to use some of the Spray On Sound Damper.
(a little more weight gained but really quiet now and more insulated)
Perhaps look for some of those Dynamat alternatives.
I recall seeing a few that were more heat resistant and made of rubber and Vinyl, and apparently veary lightweight.
(add More weight but gain a Sweet system)
Replace the backseats with a compact dual/or singal subwoofer box. Maybe some 10" MB Quart or Nakamichis.
(loose Lots of weight but not sure about safety)
Replace the hatch window with Lexan, and maybe the front window too.
Hood should be Carbon Fiber but look like stock.
Does anyone have any pictures of the rear seat delete with Subwoofer Box replacement?
I'd like mine to look veary stealth and appear like i just have my rear seat folded down.
