Default will an 86 951 turbo clutch fit an 86 944 N/A ?

..........and if not......... anyone got an N/A 944 clutch FS? Used will do fine, just needs to be in good shape of course. Gotta get my dads 86 944 running.

I'm sure it won't fit, but I gotta ask.

I know that Part No. 944-116-012-90 will not fit.

Anyone know the part number for the one that will fit?

The turbo clutch is bigger in diameter. You'd need the turbo bellhousing irrc.

Just pick up aclutch kit for $419 comes with everythin and its spring centered. I'll post up the link later

The 951 clutch setup is different. Bigger and the bellhousing is machined different as well. As well as the ring gear has more teeths so I don't know if it will keep the ignition running right since the sensors will be reading some extra tooths.

It's really silly to put a used clutch in. You have no idea what stress the previous driver put on the clutch. There are also several maintenance parts that you should replace when you replace the clutch and something tells me that if you aren't willing to spring for a new clutch kit as you should then the pivot fork shaft, needle bearings, pilot bearing, pressure plate bolts, etc. aren't likely to be replaced either.

Save up the money to get the right parts NEW and do the job correctly.

Best of luck.

I have to agree with Bill. Especially because it's so hard to get back in there with a 944. While you actually have it all open, just put in the new parts, and replace all the other parts he mentioned. You should also resurface the flywheel. While the flywheel is out, you should use new bolts, and replace the rear main seal.

Look around at all the online stores, and ebay. You'll find a cheap clutch kit.

$350 clutch kit, 1 bid

Car is not staying, so doing it correctly is on MY terms. None of that was pertaining to the question asked. I've seen plenty of used clutches when I didn't need one.

1) You didn't say that your father was getting rid of the car. That still shouldn't change the repair.

2) Please advise us when you sell the car so no one here purchases a car that will probably need a clutch soon because it wasn't replaced with new parts.

Thanks and have a good day.

Well then no, a 944 turbo clutch will not fit into a 944 without other modifications. I'm sorry but I don't have any of my old 944 clutches any more.

The part number for a 1985 944 NA clutch is 944 116 012 09.
