High Side AC port won't fit 134A adapter?
I got a retrofit kit, and now have cool AC at least for today until it will probably leak all out somewhere, but Anyway, Only the low side port adapter would screw on, which is fine for filling, but i'm pretty sure the other side is used to evacuate if i ever had to. The r12 fitting seems to be too large for the adapter on the high side.
Any ideas? the adapters given are supposed to work on any 76+ vehicle.

Yeah, the high side is the wider adapter. but its screw hole isnt nearly big enough... it seems like it sthe same threads as the low side, but the r12 fitting is not?

Erich, where was your high side at? Is that the one near the accumulator just behind the driver headlight, or is it on the compressor. I tried both areas and neither worked.

Here is a word document (Split in half and missing a couple pictures to meet the upload size limit) I assembled after converting my 944 to 134a. It addresses the high side connector for my 86. I let a friend use the setup for his 84 and he was successful too. Both were done last year and still cool great. Neither has needed a recharge.
This worked for me. I don't claim it will work for you or that it is safe. I "borrowed" at least one picture from another source although the words and other pictures are mine. I can't guarantee what I wrote is what I did- I am old and have a lousy memory.
Hope this helps,
Bill

FWIW, if you bought a generic retrofit kit, I think they usually include an adaptor for one of the domestic makes. I can't remember if it's GM or what, but I distinctly remember seeing 3 adaptors total in the last kit I had, and of course only used the two apropriate ones. Any chance that's what you're looking at?

I had the same situation it had three I think. It looked right but did not seat all the way or something. Seems like it had a higher hat or something(maybe was slightly smaller in diameter..). I think I bought a different kit same info but it had an adapter that fit. Sorry for the vagueness, I am not near my car right now or I would shoot a shot of what it looks like....High side fit fine, it was the low side that gave me shi*.
