Sorry to bump an ancient thread...
I know Porsche did some wacky stuff back in the day. Anyone else with a black car that has a black 944 emblem? I seem to remember that some of them came through with black on black. Mine black 1986 NA has a black emblem.

Back in the day when new, one could specify either or. Some liked the stealth look, but by far most were seen on the street wearing silver. Both of my Satin Black Metallic cars came with silver from new.
One could also do a nomenclature 'delete' and have nothing back there. These were VERY uncommon, altho I do remember both a new 951 and a 944 came to our dealership without a trim piece designating the model. Seemed kind of weird , because the first run of cars all had them. Then a couple of years in, this delete option came about.
