I just spoke to the forest service and all the roads are open and clear. If anyone driving the second leg wants to take a 45 minute detour to the top of Carson Pass and then back the way we were going it's open also. Road crews have just plowed the east(high) end of Mormon and are sweeping debris today. There will be snow on the ground still at several locations but not on the roads. The temps are slated to be in the high 70's to low 80's in the mountains, 106 in the lowest valley locations. Charge up that AC folks and dress for warm weather. Bring window cleaner, there will probably be a few areas of water draining across the road in places.

I went across the top of Hwy4 to 89 to S. Lake Tahoe about this time last year...about 2 ft of snow at the higher elevations, a number of areas with running water, but mostly dry and fairly empty roads. You really can't beat dry roads, snowpack and 70degree sunny weather.

We want to join you Saturday!
Hi - I'm new to the list. Have been reading it for a couple of years though. Had my 1988 944s since 11/02. Been through the trials of a broken timing belt in the middle of major traffic 680/580 Interchange - Divine Providence watching over me - not even one toasted valve! It's been 11,000 miles since it happened. How about my husband, Dave, and I join you all on Sat. for the drive - we'll meet you at Sunrise & Hwy.50.

Welcome to Rennlist and glad to have you along. You win the prize for not waffling if you are going or not...all in your fisrt post no less! I'll add your names to the list. Dress for a warm drive and wear good shoes and body armor for the East-West Snowball Fight. See you both on Saturday morning. Keep your eye on the first post here for any last minute changes and phone contact info. Some of you BA folks should caravan up to the pre-meet.
