Default Magnecor Wires on eBay

Good price? Anyone bought from this guy/gal before?

Magnecor Wires on eBay

I've read a lot about these wires in various threads and I'm leaning towards getting them.

Any advance warnings/hints before going about this little project? Thanks as always.

Thats about right on for a set of them, maybe a little expensive. I think I paid around $60 for the set I have.

The magnacor wires are said to be a bit bitter when removing and re-installing them on the cap or plugs (supposidly pulling the boot from the wire) but i've never had a problem with mine. They work great and they're cheap too!

I've got them too, and they've really improved the engine response over the old worn out wires.

The Buy it Now price is about 1/2 of what I got mine for. But then, I probably bought them at the wrong place. Ooops.

The Magnacor's that I got just popped right in. A direct replacement for the OEM wires, as far as I could tell.

I'm surprised no one else here has said anything. Generally Magnacore wires are fantastic, the ones for the 944 suck. Big time. While the wires are just as good as any Magnacore wires, the boots suck. I had a set a while back, they did not clip on the plugs like the OEM wires do, the boots tore at the plug end, one of the wires can completely detached from the boot, and the distributor end of the wires need all kinds of help getting on the distrubutor correctly. I'll never buy a set of these wires for the 944 again, unless they come with the factory boots.

that auction sounds like its for the 7mm wire, and not the 8.5mm everyone uses.

$37-$55, double check your car, i just clicked on the 82-89 doesn't include 924s, 944s, or 944S2, also turbo may be differnet. BTW you don't need those super thick ones, but you can get them.
Apex is a forum sponser and alot of people have bought from them, i have purchased a set for every car in my sig!

I've used Magnacor on the 924S and on the Fiat 124 for about 8 years and have never had a problem.

An item to note, on wire sets like Magnacor, the resistance is inherent in the wire itself which is why they do not use the factory resistor ends. The resistor ends are used on the factory wires because those wires are solid core and have very little resistance. This may be of interest as some aftermarket wire sets are built using the same type of mutlistrand wires that Magnacor uses in addition to resistor ends, which to me indicates extra resistance.

I have magnecor wires. I'd say they are 4 years old tops, probably newer. The boot on one wire is cracked so I'm going to get new plug wires. Would like to know where I could get OEM for a decent price. I dont think I'm going with magnecor anymore.

I picked up a set of OEM wires from forum sponsor Vertex for pretty cheap... they came with the Beru connectors integrated and appeared to be identical to my stock wires. Also came with the 5th wire for the distributor to coil connection. Plug and play installation... biggest pain is getting the rear connectors under the intake manifold. Maybe 10 minutes total including the beer.

I happened to have a quote price out of Panorama, I think it was right around 70 or 75 bucks...

I just bought Magnecors as a replacement for my OEM Beru types which had abotu 15k miles on my 924S before i put another 20k miles after swapping them onto my 944 when i sold the 924S. I never changed the coil wire however and i have no idea how old that sucker was..all i know is that its not flexable anymore!

Anyhow the Magnecors are nice, however i am not happy with the connector for the distributor cap. The boot does not cover the entire length of the distributor cap and its just not a tight enough fit..i honestly through when i first put them on that something was wrong, but seeing them all fit the same way i realized its just the way they are made. The connection between the cap and the connector just dosent seem very secure. At first i had my doubts they would even stay on the car when its running, but ive put about 50 miles on them so far with some nice pot holes mixed in and they havent popped off yet. Lets hope they dont! Thats really my only gripe. But for the $66 i paid i cant complain.

I coated all the boots with dielectric grease to aid in removal..apparently this is where many of the wires get damaged.

They do match my red vac lines nicely though... heh heh. It looks like an absolute mess of wiring under my hood.
