LOL, funny pic Mike
I'll admit it, I like them. And I might even do it, if it wasn't so absurdly expensive. Only after putting in 968 mirrors/handles, of course.

ok, i've considered doing this 90% because i think it'd help me get out of the car easier, and give me greater ability to park next to cars in smaller spaces.
i need to have the door open almost literaly all the way to get out comfortably cuz of leg room.
having a door scissor up would be a blessing, and i'd enjoy the car so much more.
being 6'7" hurts sometimes.....
if i had an extra ~2k lying around, i'd definetly do it.

The problem with upward hinge doors is the design of the car they are intended for. Our cars have big massive "rectangular" doors. They don't move out of the way like a Lamborghini Scissor does. If you study the hinge and body design on most cars compared to that of Lambos, you see exactly why it looks funny or leaves a strange entrance on normal cars.
Lambos hinge way forward and the door swings completely out of the way. Having a scissor door on a 944, or anything similar just doesn't work the same way. Most of the kits also swing sideways first, and then up.
My personal opinion, unless the car was designed for functional scissor doors, it's not going to make it any better trying to add them. What DOES work is swan doors like a DB9 or an Enzo, McLaren, etc... The door swings forward. That looks awesome and offers space even with a bulky door.
