Default 968 door handle conversion

I have searched on this topic, but have a question regarding new vs. used 968 exterior door handles. Specifically, 1) can I bring the lock cylinder straight across from the 944, 2) if I buy new 968 handles, other than the exterior handle, trigger, spring, pin, rosette and latch rod, are there any other parts needed? 3) what is the likely lifespan of a used 968 handle assembly?

I tried to get used 968 handles. Ended up buying at Sunset for less than used. I can't remember the exact amount, though. Complete mirrors and handles were $485. I think $215 of that was for the handle kit. The only thing I swapped over were the lock cyls.

I think your list is close, but add gaskets. Jeff @ Sunset knows exactly what you want.

Just ordered from Sunset. Better deal than buying used, can't wait to get them painted and installed! This will be the third (and hopefully last) set of exterior door handles that I will ever have to worry about.

I found the local body shop that used to do the body and paint work for the local Porsche dealership, so they had all the Porsche paint colors. I asked really nicely and they painted 1 door handle for me for $50. The color was a perfect match, and the finish was perfect. That was the only time I left a body shop 100% satisfied.... I savored it.

Paint quote for both handles was just less than $100, using base coat/clear coat. My responsibility to install handles. I will probably have them repaint the mirrors at the same time, flags are chipped from many years of fun driving....

Not sure about that. Sunset Porsche said that it will work and didn't mention any differences between script or non-script handles. I still have the old script handles and cylinders if they are needed.

I just installed my 968 handles. I had non-script handles and haven't had any problems yet

Under a $100 is a good price for painting both handles.

When they paint the door handles, do they just spray the whole thing inside & out or just the outside, or does it matter? Thanks!

I am assuming that they will paint all surfaces. I'll post pics once they are painted, should be done this coming week.
