Default Clear sidemarkers: How do I remove the amber lenses and install the clears?

I bought clear sidemarker lenses, and I've got amber lenses on my sidemarkers now (out of the car). How can I cleanly remove the amber lens? I played with one, but the only way I could get the amber lens off was by brute force. I tried a couple solutions/chemicals, but nothing broke it loose. What's the trick?

I beleive you need to cut the old amber lens from the backing with a dremel.

Speaking of which, where do you get clear ones from? I can't remember where I saw them for sale...

Tifo: I like your headlights, did you make that custom or from some kit? Did you redo the wiring or what?

That car is an impostor.

I only had hand tools when I did mine. I took a hacksaw and cut the lens crossways until I reached the white part of the backing plate. Then with diagonal cutters I snipped the pieces of lens right above where the backing plate is. This will leave some lens material on the plate. Then, very carefully, file down the remaining lens material until flush with the backing plate.

Use some slow dry epoxy to glue the new lens on. Use rubber bands to hold everything together until dry. They will come out looking great!

Thanks guys. I've got a dremel, so that is the route I will take. Tifosiman posted the link in another thread, to the supplier I bought them from:

if you do a search on this topic with IceShark, he said he sprayed the inside of the lenses with chrome paint before glueing the lenses on. Might be a good idea for extra reflectiveness.
