anyone still up? i suck at search!

how do you get the tail lights off? ive been forced to work on my car in the dark with a flashlight after work for the last million years.
im trying to seal things off to make sure i dont have leaks.
after rain, i have water sitting on top of the light housing on the drivers side inside my car. also, the carpet is sometimes wet, my card board thing under the acarpet is messed up, and ive had problems getting all of my lights to work on that side.
i originally thought it was the wiring itself. inside the connector is very clean.
i have checked out the hatch post latches....im putting silicone seal on the contact surface to the body of them to hopefully seal them(if thats my leak).
i would like to do the same for the tail lights.
how do the lights come out?
i took 6 8mm nuts off of each tail light after taking the bulb clusters off.

take a putty knife of some sort and go around the sealant. if needed use a screwdrive to pry a little between the putty knife and taillight using the putty knife to protect the body.

they put a ****-ton of butyl tape/dum dum tape whatever you wanna call it sealant there.

work around in a few spots and eventually you'll be able to pull it out

i usually push very evenly from the inside out do one corner then the other then the middle...careful not to bind it sideways as it will get stuck worse and not too hard or youll crack the lense.

You may want to look on http://www.clarks-garage.com for some procedural info.

Good Luck, water leaks can be a real pain...

yeah i couldnt find anything in clarks. all of there procedures say remove the tail lights...or at least thats all i could find.

well i sealed my hatch posts up, im going to wait and see if the water is still comign in before i try and cut through the butyl. im guessing since theyre so hard ot get off, they must still be sealed up pretty well.....if not, ill pound them off.
