Default S2 Torque Tube, what makes it different??

I need to replace the Torque tube in my S2.
Autoatlanta p/n: 94442101215 S2
94442101202 all others.

I have looked at both and don't see a major difference, except the tip.

I replaced the one in my other S2 (GT8) conversion with an 87 S unit. The only difference was the tip that goes into the pilot bear, the S2 tip has a smaller contact area inside the pilot bearing. The tip that goes in the pilot bearing is .25" S2 vs .5" In all other regards they look the same, length, housing, etc.

Any experts out there?? Seems that when an S2 3.0 is transplanted into an earlier model the TT works fine. So is it a concern to put an 87 Turbo unit in the S2??

Friend of mine is getting fine performance from an 87 S torque tube in his 89 Turbo S, if that guides you in any way.
