968 or a 951? I'm confused.
So i decided that i want another porsche after the loss of my two. I've always wanted a 951 or a 968. I had a chance to pick up a beautiful 951 at a local rennsport, but unfortunately the cards were not in my favor. Now since my s2, i enjoy the low end tq from the 3.0, but after driving that turbo i really enjoy the boost. The car will be driven about 15-20 miles daily. I also love the body style of the 968 alont with the 3.0. I need some pros and/ cons. Price really isnt an issue ( just got my checks for the others ). And if anybody has a 968 or 951 for sale please send them my way. I'm so addicted to these cars.... I ultimately ruled out a new Mustang GT (they are nice cars... but not a porsche ).

I think the 968 would be a better in town daily driver - slightly more refined, good low end power w/ a bit more top end than your old S2, 6spd tranny. Also the 968 will have lower maintainence costs than the 951, and you won't be tempted to spend thousands of dollars on mods for the 968.
ultimately the 951 has much more potential for power, but will cost more with those upgrades and will be more expensive maintainence wise...that being said, I'm still going to go for a 951 over an S2 or 968

I agree. Go for the 968. The 951s are so addicting. Especially because they can be how fast you want them to be. Next thing you know all your credit cards are maxxed out, you've got a 2nd on the house. Then something happens, and its not running. No I've never been there. but i see myself going there.

Don't get me wrong I love my turbo. But, IMO i think the 968 would be a better daily driver. Either car is a great choice though. good luck.

So, i assume try to get a good priced 968, and a few years down the line, find myself a great 951? If this is the case, i was looking at this 968, what do you all think? I really like the GuardsRed/biege or the Midnightblue/biege.. Seems a bit much. Am i wrong?

A promising looking ad I would say.
I would go for a 968. I've been fortunate to drive two 968s and a nice 951 (stock, non-S). All three were tremendous cars but the low end grunt of the 968 was very impressive. Made my WRX feel slow...
Also, the 968s have a lot of little refinements (interior door panels, '94-on seats, mirrors, door handles, more contemporary styling (subjective though) that all add up. Also, they are Zuffenhausen-built and actually on the rare side. I think they will hold value fairly decently.
Having said that, you're sure not going to go wrong with a nice 951 either...

I'd say that car is a bit high on the price, but not outrageous...at the last DE event I went to there was a local PCA member selling a gaurds red/beige car with similar mileage and in great condition for 17K

968. period. More reliable if modified, less of a money pit. (IMHO) Better low end torque, no lag.
A very driveable car. (And I LOVE a driveable car.. )

I would have to agree with everyone else that the 968 is the way to go, but the price seems a little high on the example you mentioned. I have owned two 951s and currently have an S2 and was looking at 968s when I bought my S2. The 968 is a little more refined and the maintenance should be a lot more reasonable than a 951. Good luck!

It depends on what your daily commute looks like, but unless you commute via an Autobahn, I'd say go for the low-end grunt.
That 968 looks pretty, but definitely pricey for a coupe. If you're look for an enthusiast car, take a peek over on other 968 forums (like www.968.net or www.968forums.com) -- there's usually someone looking to sell.
