It looks like a heavily modified one (maybe 105?) is listed on the SVRA site (vintage racing) for sale, see

WE'VE FOUND ALL BUT ONE!
Thanks to some Columbo-grade investigative work by Masaya Nakamoto, we've found 165104! Details below.
(Still need info on 165101.)
HERE'S WHAT WE KNOW TO DATE:
165101 Need current information.
PMNA to Sewickley Porsche Audi (dealership), sold to Powell Motorsports (Corvette race team) early 1987 - from Powell to GM for testing?
NEW: John Powell confirms that the car went to GM, and believes it may have been scrapped. (But it seems unlikely to me that they would scrap the car... why not sell it or transfer it back to Powell so he could sell it.....)

Located, owned by PCA-Chicago Region member Jim Becker
165105 Located
PMNA to Carlson Porsche - photo's in Automotion catalog, written up in Excellence Magazine Feb -88 issue. Later owned by Dan Bacin. Current owner appears to be Frank Jackson in Alabama, who did not respond to emails, but what appears to be this car has been recently offered for sale, very extensively modified, recently listed for sale at http://www.race-cars.com/carsales/p...112743806ss.htm and at http://www.svra.com/SVRA/SVRAHome.ns...T?OpenDocument

Paul,
Any idea about this car? It has the SCCA Escort markings on it and looks like a late offset (87+) car. The Rothmans sponsorship colors are similar to the two PMNA cars raced in the '86 Escort season (not the same graphics as the Canadian Turbo Cups).
Sewickely raced one of the PMNA/Rothmans sponsored cars in '86, so thought they may have used similar graphics on the car they raced in '87, so it may be #108 - but that car is currently in Alabama, and this photo was from a DE event at Mosport 4-5 years ago.

I went to a trans am race build on a street course in Niagara Falls. (US side). I think it was 86 or 87. I believe I have a bunch of 944 pictures. They are on film but if any of they would help answer questions I could scan them and forward to someone.
Let me know.

The 944s that would have raced in the Trans Am series in 87 were the tube frame ground up race cars (see photos below):
http://www.racingsportscars.com/phot...-26-photo.html
But its possible that Showroom Stock cars (944 Turbo Club Sports/Cups/Escort cars) may have also raced at the event as a warm up/pre-race to the full Trans Am race(?). Let me know if you come across anything of interest. Thanks.

*A bell went off, I found the program from that weekend! Rothmans-Porsche Challenge Series, June 25 & 26, 1988. Looks like a couple 944T ran in the actual Trans-Am race, one driven by Chris Kneifel of Lake Forest, Ill. Olivetti USA Porsche 944, car #11. A second 944 car #44 driven by Hurley Haywood.
There is a list of the 1988 Rothmans Porsche Turbo Cup competitors, 33 entrants.
No good pics of Porsche's. Also racing that weekend were the Escort Trans Ams, Coors Racetrucks, and VW Super Vees. Good stuff!

Dan, Manning, did either of you figure out about the car you mention in these posts?
Im guessing it may have been the pre-production red 944T that Baker raced in the Playboy/Escort Series in '85? There was also a pre-production black 944T run by Brumos.
I did briefly speak to Fred Baker some time ago about the Escort cars, and he indicated (or I got the impression) that the '83 and '84 prototypes were only brought over to the US for the 24hr at Nelson Ledges in '83 (the car broke a ball joint), and in '84 for the 24hrs at Nelson (it won) and Mid Ohio (engine blew early in the race) - and then the cars were returned to Germany for evaluation after those races.
If you dig through the links that Ken D. posted of photos by Mark Windecker, you can find pics of the '83, '84, and '85 prototypes. Very interesting. Also, some of the drivers names will ring some bells: Price Cobb, Elliott Forbes Robinson, Jon Milledge, Joe Cogbill, etc.
