Default Dash Lights gone

Early car ('83). First, just the speedo light went out - no big deal, I can estimate speed via the tach. I swapped bulbs from the other guages and realized it was wiring, not the bulbs. Then, several months later, ALL GUAGES HAVE NO LIGHT!!! Fuse #12 is fine. I'm not well versed in "grounding" - is there a ground-wire somewhere I can check? If not, how do I spot the bad wire?

TIA

bring it over to the garage next week. Could be the headlight switch or a broke/unplugged ground wire or something.

My vote is for the headlight switch. Dan, if you have the one from the 924 you cut up, do a quick swap and check to see if that is it. The switches are notorious for melting after many years of current running through them, due to the fact that Porsche was a little wonky in the way that they ran some high current thru the switch verses using relays.

Can the switch problem be intermittent? Apparently, pulling the fuse to check it then posting on Rennlist scared the lights into working again. This morning they were back to normal (including no speedo lights).
