I'm getting ready to do a belt change and I can use either a pair of car ramps (steel-drive-up-type) or a floor jack and jack stands. any opinions?

Either should work, but I you might have a problem to find a set wide enough for the wheels.
And it's not very easy to drive the car onto the ramps (it's very easy to drive too far and get off the ramps, but you probably know this)
Did you get a tensioning tool? (Krikit 1 from NAPA works fine).

Mine wont drive up the ramps the valence is in the way... I have to jack it up and sit it on the ramps

I did ramps once. The tires barely fit.... And yes it IS way too easy to roll off them... Ask me how and I know and youll then know why I returned them the very next day.

I do use miniramps to make jacking easier. Theyre a pair of standard ramp extensions bolted to large chunks of wood. They get me the extra inch in height for my old jack to get under.

I have a set of black plastic style ramps from AutoZone ... with the batwing off of my 951 it fits fine on the ramps (there is some rubbing with the batwing on, but it still works). The ramps are wide enough for the stock front wheels of my turbo.

I bought a set of ramps at wal-mart that have a stopper on the top rear to keep you from driving off. If you hit the stopper hard enough the ramps will slide. They work great. I hate being under a car on stands.

My front bumper didn't clear my Rhino Ramps. Unfortunate, as I prefer the ramps.

My valence would hit my Rhino ramps too. To get clearance, you need to place an 6"X6"X1" piece of wood at the end of each ramp. This gives you the clearance to use the ramps.

I tried Rhino ramps, but they do not clear my front valence. I've since gone to the Griot Garage low-profile ramps with extensions. I know it is a little pricey, but it works wells for me:

Joe, I use ramps FLAWLESSLY with the 924S. Now, if you get a set of those plastic ones for $30.00 or so at Kmart, it'll be perfect for ya. fit nicely under the 924S valance, and plenty wide enough for the tires.

My N/A just clears the Rhino ramps. They do have a stop on the back to stop you going too far. I do use someone to spot for me, so I know I am on right.

Hey, I used jack and jackstands ( my mother was very much against ) and they worked alright. I'd like to use ramps, but didnt have any the car would clear. You don't need to spend that much time under a 944 while doing the belts thank god! From what I remember all I went under the car for was installing/removing PS/AC belts, some bolts on the timing cover, routing the balance/timing belts around the crankshaft...all in all didnt take much time
