Using car ramps?

I do what Jolly does, with the Rhino's and the boards. My 2X8's are long enough to put the ramps on and have about 2' sticking out in front, and I nailed some wood 'stops' at the end of the boards so the ramps won't slip when I'm driving up them. Got the advice from ... where else but Rennlist!

I use Rhino's. A touch of rub as I go up but nothing that leaves a permanent mark. So much easier than a jack and jack stands. And it frees up my jack and jack stands to provide additional lift where I might need it.

I'm using 4 craftsman jacks now.... Even in the very unlikely event that one jackstand fails, the car balances on 3 VERY easily. Nothing compares to the amount of room you get under jackstands either.
I used to have that baseless paranoia of jackstands, but I've come to realize that they really are very very safe. I might buy a pair of ramps for quick oil change jobs though.

I just took a set of ramps to the scrapyard today along with a cut 944 tub, 9 bucks baby! I used them once and were nothing but a pain. Jack and stands for me.

Hey everyone who can't drive up on the ramps without scraping:
Why not just jack the car up one side at a time and put the ramps under it?
I use either jack stands or ramps depending on the job, but always raise the car with a hydraulic jack.
