Default crankshaft cleaning after drilling?

Just got my crankshaft back from the shop after being drilled, polished, balanced, etc. On inspection, found that there is still quite a bit of metal inside leftover from machining.

How can I properly clean this out?

Current plan is to use air and water.

Circuitboard/contact cleaner and compressed air is the way to go.

Skip, what my machinist did was to drill out the plugs for the oil paths, then completely clean it up and re-plug the paths with blind screws, loctited in place.

It took him a bit of time and a spare crankshaft to figure out the best way to do it...

Any crap you have left in there is going right to the bearings to damage them.

I'd have it ultrasonically cleaned.

You can also get cleaing brushes and run them in and out. Add a little air and you should be good.

I just did that with crank I had #2 & #3 cross drilled on. Now my crank guy already cleaned it, but suggested I do it again. I did and did not get much out.

Once you run it and quick oil change would be good just in case.

good tips all - I may do the drill-out the plugs deal just to be sure. I kinda want this one to last.

I've got a pressure sprayer and will attack it with that as well. I also have the little brushes to get in the holes that are visible.
