It's the intersection of the yellow thing closest to the pivot.

IIRC, 30 pounds seems low, but I don't remember the numbers off the top of my head.

So where it makes an angle is where I read from?

Thanks
Mike

I don't know much about the krikit, but if that isn't working out for you - I would highly recommend checking into Bruce's own AWX tool. Results are repeatable and its not too hard to use either.

Agh. Where is the BEST spot to put it on an early car? I know you are supposed to use it between the 2 pullies/sprockets but there is no room! and even before I start pushing down on hte button, the yellow are shoots up

On my krickit..its just the yellow thing with NO markings..then the scale on the metal..where do I read from?

edit: think i got it..feel free to respond while I work in the garage

read the scale at the intersection of the yellow arm and the metal body. turn the tool a little sideways so you can see exactly where the the two "lines" meet to form the angle. take multiple readings to insure accuracy.

It's not too bad for the cam belt, but the balance belt is the lowest end of the scale and will require a little interpolation. that's ok as the balance belt is loose and can be set by feel (you will get it colse with the krikit and if it just feels too loose, give it a little more tension.

You did take initial readings with the tool before you removed the belts so you have that as some kind of guide. if you dont feel confident in the end, you can always take it to the shop to check tension which shouldn't be more than a 100 bucks.

I think its ok to be a little tight on a new belt as it will stretch. You'll be ok - you can have confidence that the toll will get you close.

as for placement on the belt - you can get it in there - just take your time and check it over again until you are satisfied.

p.s. - I now use the krikit only for PS and AC belts and have moved on the the new Arnnworx tensioning tool. Good-Luck

Mike S, I used a simplified version of your technique, as follows:

Open package.
Take ahold of Kricket with thumb and index finger.
Drop Kricket into trash can.
Tension belt by hand.
